Have you placed your bid on the Mirror House?
The Mirror House is the small building that was placed adjacent to the New Canaan Library in September and is being auctioned to raise money for the New Canaan Library expansion project.
Bidding on the 224-square-foot building that was inspired by architect Philip Johnson’s iconic Glass House in New Canaan, ends on Saturday, May 1st at noon. Currently, the top bid for the Mirror House is $90,000. If you’re interested in submitting a bid, you can do so here.
The winning bid not only gets the structure but the contents as well. Inside the Mirror House is mid-century modern décor from renowned designer Herman Miller, including an Eames Lounge Chair, Aeron Chair, Nelson Bench, and other creative pieces.
Curious New Canaan residents can sign up for an open house this Saturday (that’s April 24th) from 9 a.m. to noon. If you register for the open house, just remember that face coverings will be required.
The Mirror House was designed by ÖÖD, an Estonian design firm that specializes in living spaces that are designed for accommodations. Their structures can be used for personal offices, yoga rooms, offices, studios, and garden spaces.
