Summer Camps in New Canaan

Since 1922, Silvermine has provided art experiences that enhance and change the way we experience art. We engage individuals of all ages in creative expression and discovery through making and exhibiting art and in presenting abundant opportunities to enjoy and learn about the arts. Our award-winning School of Art is the preeminent learning destination for visual arts in Fairfield County, Connecticut with more than 1,100 courses and workshops and approximately 4,000 enrollments throughout the year —for the beginner as well as the professional. Silvermine’s five Galleries are welcoming and free to the public offering more than 20 exhibitions annually. Special solo shows, major invitational theme exhibitions and prestigious juried competitions are presented. Lectures, panel discussions and artist talks are ongoing and offer the opportunity to meet artists and broaden the viewers’ understanding of contemporary art. The Guild of Artists is an association of over 300 professional artists elected to membership by a jury of peers. Widely respected and highly collectible, their multi-disciplined work can be viewed in the Galleries at various times throughout the year.

The New Canaan YMCA Summer Camps have provided thousands of children in our community with a camp experience they never forget.

Our camps offer a variety of experiences for children of all ages and abilities, with each camp offering safe and supervised fun provided by a caring, responsible staff. Each child gains something different at camp: making new friends, learning how to swim, self-confidence, independence, and leadership—skills that last far beyond camp. Whether it’s your child’s first camp experience through Camp Mini, the traditional summer camp fun at Camp Y-Ki, or an action-packed summer with Sports Camp, each of our camps provide an environment where campers are encouraged to grow, have fun, and make those memories that will last a lifetime.

Toddlertime offers a flexible, drop off summer camp for campers turning two by December of the summer enrolled until they enter kindergarten. We offer a low camper to counselor ratio in a safe and nurturing environment led by experienced early childhood professionals trained in CPR and First Aid.

Our summer program is rich in exploration, imagination and creativity. You won’t find boring old themes such as “Under the Sea”. Instead, our themes are intentionally open-ended to allow campers to enjoy play without an end goal in mind and to give the counselors freedom to tailor it towards the interest of their group.

It is the mission of the New Canaan Recreation Department to enhance the quality of life for New Canaan residents by utilizing all resources under our control including public parks, public buildings, and public facilities to foster beneficial use of personal and family time for recreation and leisure. To accomplish this, we provide and promote a wide variety of quality recreation services that meet citizen needs and interests at a reasonable cost. The Recreation Department hosts  a variety of youth and adult summer programs which include Baseball, Swimming, Diving, Water Polo, Tennis, XC Races, Outdoor Summer Concerts, Family Movie Nights, Biking Routes, and more!

Since 1957, Camp Playland of New Canaan has been dedicated to excellence in day camping. The pride and commitment to our family business is the foundation for wonderful summers for children. Located at 800 Ponus Ridge Rd in New Canaan, Connecticut on a stunning 18-acre, beautifully wooded campus, they provide a day camp with the away camp experience.
