2021 Suessical Kids Auditions

Open Arts Alliance, partnering with Town Players of New Canaan, are excited to announce virtual auditions for their live summer production of “Seussical KIDS.”

Children ages 6-13 may audition for Seussical KIDS, with rehearsals July 6-15 and a performance date of July 16th at the Powerhouse Theatre in Waveny Park, New Canaan.

Auditions should be submitted online by May 21. See www.OpenArtsAlliance.com for more information.

This production marks a unique and new partnership between local non-profit organizations, Town Players of New Canaan, and Open Arts Alliance. Both organizations are committed to creating an enriching experience for youth across local and diverse communities.

About Seussical KIDS:

Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat, our narrator, tells the story of Horton, an elephant who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos, including Jojo, a Who child, who gets in trouble for thinking too many “thinks.” Horton’s challenge is twofold — not only must he protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, but he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger, kidnapping, and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family, and community are challenged and emerge triumphantly!

Town Players of New Canaan’s president, Deborah Burke said, “As New Canaan’s 75-year-old community theatre, we are thrilled to partner with the professional creative staff of OAA to offer this summer’s youth program for our local and extended community.”, while Open Arts Alliance Executive Director, Rocco Natale adds, “this is an exciting opportunity for multi-community arts engagement. At OAA we’re always looking for ways to cross the divide- whether that is in our intergenerational programs or by engaging students in diverse communities- which is the impetus of this summer’s productions.”
