It’s time to go back to school!
Those words might not be great news for most kids, but students who attend any of the New Canaan Public Schools will be back in class starting Tuesday (August 29).
Parents can view the district’s 2023-2024 calendar here. Some of the dates to remember are the December holiday break which starts with a minimum day on December 22 and lasts through January 1; Winter recess from February 19 through February 23; and Spring Break from April 15 through April 19. The final day of class is Wednesday, June 12.
The New Canaan Police Department has offered these safety tips to protect students who are out on local roadways getting to and from school.
- Be on the lookout for school crossing guards.
- Students should only be dropped off and picked up in designated zones.
- NEVER pass vehicles that are stopped for children at crosswalks.
- DO NOT pass a school bus that is picking up or dropping off students.
- Be aware of school zone speed limits.
- Eliminate distractions (cell phones, air pods, iPads, or any other electronic devices) that may cause you to take your eye off the road – especially during school hours.
