The lecture honors former New Canaan resident Richard Salant, who worked for 27 years at CBS and was president of CBS News on two occasions. Salant was instrumental in many innovations in news coverage at the network, including the introduction of “The CBS Evening News With Walter Cronkite," "60 Minutes," "CBS Morning News," and "Sunday Morning."

Bernstein skyrocketed to fame with his daily reporting for The Washington Post on the Watergate scandal starting in June 1972. He is the author of five books, including All The President’s Men, and is the co-author of two others. He still makes frequent appearances on national news programs.
