A clean community requires help from everyone.
That’s what makes New Canaan’s annual Clean Your Mile campaign such a success. The campaign is intended to inspire residents to get outside and clean up neighborhoods, parks, schools, and other public areas in the town where trash and debris accumulate.
This year’s Clean Your Mile campaign in New Canaan is scheduled for the week of April 17-23. Residents, community groups, and local businesses are asked to do what they can to give the town a good spring cleaning before the warmer weather arrives.
Garbage bags can be picked up at the town’s Public Works and Inland Wetlands offices. A limited supply of trash grabbers will be available for loan at both locations and dumpsters will be placed in the train station’s commuter parking lot so residents can dispose of full trash bags.
Volunteers can also leave full trash bags along the shoulder of local roadways but are encouraged to call the Highway Department at (203) 594-3704 to notify the agency about the location of the bags. The bags will then be collected by the Highway Department for disposal.
This year’s Clean Your Mile campaign is co-sponsored by the town of New Canaan, the Chamber of Commerce, and Planet New Canaan.
