Get ready for the Rotary Club of New Canaan’s 35th annual Lobsterfest on October 16th and 17th — with a few COVID-related modifications of course.
This year’s Lobsterfest will be a contactless event with an expanded menu. Not only will the traditional lobster dinners with corn on the cob, cole slaw, drawn butter, and dessert be available, but there will also be grilled salmon and grilled chicken dinners on the menu.
All meals will be prepared for curbside pick up only at Waveny Park’s pool pavilion. No meals will be available at the Historical Society as in years past.
Tickets are $45 and can only be purchased with a credit card at https://www.newcanaanrotarylobsterfest.org/menu-tickets. When placing an order, a pick-up time must be specified. All orders must be placed by October 13th. No orders will be taken or filled at Waveny Park. When people arrive at the pool pavilion, their meals will be handed to them or placed in the trunk of the car. A limited number of home deliveries can be arranged for large orders.
Proceeds from Lobsterfest 2020 will support the Rotary Club’s annual grant program. During the last year, more than $40,000 was awarded by the Rotary Club to more than 30 local charities and nonprofits, many of which were unable to host their traditional fund-raisers in the past year because of COVID-related concerns.
Organizations receiving Rotary Club grants used the funding to support an array of vital services in the community, including purchases of food, personal protective equipment, and other social services that are needed to support local families.
The Rotary Club is encouraging people to sponsor a meal in the name of a frontline health worker or a first responder, or make a donation that will help a local charity. If you’re interested in a sponsorship or making a donation, you can contact Rob Fryer at robinfryer@gmail.com or go to https://www.newcanaanrotarylobsterfest.org/menu-tickets/gift-card.
