New Canaan CARES Continues to Help Local Youth

Since the founding of New Canaan CARES, the mission of the organization has always been that the well-being of families in the community contributes to the well-being of the community as a whole.

Even during the continuing health pandemic, New Canaan CARES is still focused on using their resources to boost the health and education of local youth and their parents.

The organization has reinvented how it presents its programs and how it reaches out to people. In-person events are now conducted online via Zoom and other digital media, and CARES continues to look for different ways to help connect youth socially as the health crisis stretches into 2021.

Currently, CARES is focused on helping parents interact with their children during the pandemic, and helping children understand that any emotions they may be feeling at the current time is normal. New Canaan CARES also offers additional information and resources to help parents and children talk to each other about current events.

Join CARES for its two events scheduled in January.

  • Thursday, January 14th: Join principals from East, West and South elementary schools in New Canaan for a Transition to Kindergarten presentation and conversation beginning at 9:30 a.m. Parents who will have children starting kindergarten in 2021 are invited. Register here.
  • Tuesday, January 26th: Watch the movie The Social Dilemma beginning at 7 p.m., and then participate in one of two discussions about the movie on Wednesday, January 27th. Go to https://newcanaancares.org/event/the-social-dilemma-screening/ for more information.
