For those of you who are lucky enough to have a casual drive through New Canaan and enjoy its parks and vibrant downtown, you’ll no doubt have remarked on its beauty.
For this, the New Canaan Beautification League deserves great thanks!
The New Canaan Beautification League (formerly the Garden Center of New Canaan) is a non-profit community service and educational organization in New Canaan, CT. Founded in 1939 for the purpose of the beautification of the community and to provide members with an opportunity to increase their knowledge of gardening, conservation and horticulture, the Beautification League has continued to dedicate itself to enhancing the beauty of New Canaan.
Membership is open to all! No matter your length of residency (from Newcomers to multi-generational families), or prior gardening expertise, the group welcomes novices, experts and everyone in between to join their monthly programs and activities, which are free and open to the public.
Monthly lectures or workshop meetings are held from October to June and are open to the public unless otherwise noted. Additional activities offered include field trips, garden tours and many civic beautification projects around New Canaan.
Once such a lecture (now Webinar owing to COVID-19) is being held this Wednesday, September 23rd at 9:30am. You may register here. This virtual program is free and open to the public.
Vice President of the New Canaan Beautification League, Faith Kerchoff, will provide an update to all listeners on the ongoing work of The New Canaan Beautification League to keep New Canaan beautiful. Faith will highlight the new Mead Park plaza garden, the restoration of the Gold Star Walk, the Pine Street mailboxes pollinator garden, Lee Memorial Garden, the Town Triangle program and more. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn how much of the town’s pretty parcels are designed and maintained by this wonderful organization!
