For more than 25 years, Tequila Mockingbird in New Canaan has been known for its great Mexican cuisine, upbeat environment and a place where guests “can let their hair down.”
Located on Forest Street in New Canaan’s walkable downtown area, Tequila Mockingbird has been a dining fixture in the community since 1993. Even though the restaurant was taken over by new owners recently, the interior of the eatery and the food has remained the same.
Every menu item at Tequila Mockingbird is made fresh daily and the restaurant does not open before 5 o’clock in the evening so the chefs have time to prepare every menu item using fresh ingredients. The original owner also believed that opening at 5 o’clock gave Tequila Mockingbird a sense of exclusivity.
There are other traditions that remain from the original owner. Some of the decor (the hand-painted tiles and the stickers on the front door) remain, as do the authentic hand-written recipes that were gathered from different regions of Mexico.
Tequila Mockingbird is a great place to celebrate a birthday, graduation or any type of special family event. Many or the servers have worked at the restaurant for years and know customers by name.
They’re open Tuesday through Sunday and closed on Monday. Call 203.966.222 for a reservation or visit www.tequilamockingbirdnc.com for more information.
