Among the many unique shops in downtown New Canaan is Against The Grain, a furniture store that specializes in handcrafted wood and poly lumber items for inside and outside the home.
Owned by Chris and Beth Meier, Against The Grain has been located on Main Street in New Canaan for the last 3½ years. The store partners with the Amish in Pennsylvania to create rocking chairs, adirondack chairs, tables, fire pits, benches and bars.
Every item is made from 100% recycled materials and furniture from Against The Grain is often featured at events hosted by the Darien Chamber of Commerce. Their furniture can also be seen in the community’s local parks, including Mead Memorial Park.
