Halloween Events Scheduled in New Canaan
Be on the lookout for ghoulish goblins, walking dead, and other scary creatures wandering the streets of New Canaan this weekend as the town celebrates Halloween with events on Friday and Sunday.
The weekend will get started on Friday evening with the New Canaan Nature Center’s Halloween Spooktacular for children and adults beginning at 5:30 p.m. Later Friday night, the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society will host an outdoor showing of the Halloween classic House on Haunted Hill beginning at 6:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Walter Stewart’s Market is sponsoring a Halloween Block Party on Elm Street that begins at noon. The first 500 trick or treaters who arrive will receive a pre-filled goody bag.
With Halloween activities back in the community this year, let’s be aware that young children, parents, and adolescents will be out on neighborhood streets and roadways this weekend.
Here is more information on the events mentioned above:
New Canaan Nature Center Spooktacular:
Learn about and meet some of the creatures (spiders, snakes, owls, and more) that remind us of All Hallows Eve. There will be creepy crafts to make, marshmallows to roast, and spooky stories will be shared around a crackling campfire. The evening will end with a one-of-a-kind jack-o’-lantern experience.
The event will be split into two sessions. Session A is from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Session B starts at 7:30 p.m. and ends at 9 p.m. Tickets can be purchased here. All parents and children are required to have a ticket.
The event is rain or shine and will be entirely outdoors! Dress for the weather. Costumes are encouraged. Tickets are $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
Movie Night on the Historical Society lawn
Bring a blanket, chairs, and some snacks and spread out on the lawn to watch the 1959 horror classic House on Haunted Hill starring Vincent Price that begins at 8:30 p.m. Register for the movie here and get ready for a good scare. Rain date is Saturday, October 30th.
New Canaan Block Party
Children can trick-or-treat along Elm Street until 2 p.m. while listening to the School of Rock band. There will be awards for the best costumes and surprise performances by the New England Academy of Dance and the cast of New Canaan High School’s upcoming musical Freaky Friday.
