Mr. Pogue will speak via live webinar on Wednesday\, April 7 at 7 PM EST. Zoom sign in information will be provided upon registration at newcanaanlibrary.org.\nIn many ways\, we are already living through the beginnings of climate chaos\, with soaring summer temperatures and extreme weather. In How to Prepare for Climate Change\, David Pogue offers sensible\, deeply researched advice for how people can ready themselves for the years ahead. Pogue will speak about many of the topics found within the book\, such as what to grow and eat\, how to build and insure\, where to invest\, how to prepare our children and pets\, and even where to consider relocating when the time comes. Pogue also provides wise tips for managing our anxiety\, as well as action plans for riding out every climate catastrophe\, from superstorms and wildfires to ticks and epidemics. New Canaan Library is pleased to welcome Dr. Daniel Barone\, Associate Medical Director of the Weill Cornell Center for Sleep Medicine\, on Tuesday\, April 13 at 7 PM EST. Dr. Barone will cover numerous aspects of sleep health and our brains\, including a review of several sleep disorders like insomnia and sleep apnea\, and various treatment for those disorders. Register for this information-packed lecture with Dr. Daniel Barone and learn how to stay healthy and snooze effectively.\nZoom sign in information will be provided upon registration at newcanaanlibrary.org. \nDr. Daniel Barone is currently the Associate Medical Director of the Weill Cornell Center for Sleep Medicine and an Associate Professor of Clinical Neurology at Weill Cornell Medical College and an Attending Neurologist at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He specializes in the evaluation and management of patients with all forms of sleep disorders including sleep apnea\, restless legs syndrome\, insomnia\, and narcolepsy. He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Both Neurology and Sleep Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and is a fellow of both the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Neurological Association.\nDr. Barone is the first author of multiple peer-reviewed publications on a variety of topics in sleep medicine and has appeared in several media pieces. His first book\, “Let’s Talk About Sleep\,” was published in 2018.

DESCRIPTION:New Canaan Library is pleased to announce this year’s Spring Edition: Virtual Issue fundraiser will feature Douglas Stuart as guest author. Mr. Stuart was awarded the 2020 Booker Prize in fiction for his debut novel\, Shuggie Bain\, a New York Times bestseller and major international hit\, soon to be translated into 34 languages and developed into a full-length film. In addition to the prestigious Booker Prize\, Shuggie Bain was a finalist for the National Book Award\, a Kirkus Prize finalist\, and long listed for the Andrew Carnegie Medal\, the Pen Hemingway Debut Novel prize\, and the Center for Fiction Debut Novel prize. \nSpring Edition: Virtual Issue will be presented live via Zoom videoconference on Thursday\, April 29\, from 7 – 8 p.m. Individual tickets are $75\, which includes a signed copy of Shuggie Bain\, available for pick up from Elm Street Books. The event will feature a moderated conversation with Douglas Stuart\, followed by a Q & A session.
