SUMMARY:Mini Mahjong for children 8 and up
DESCRIPTION:A NEW 4-week series\, led by Lorin Dunphy of File Mile Mahj introduces kids to the game of American mahjong in a fun\, social\, and skill-building environment. Each week builds on the last — from learning the tiles to playing full\, independent games — so that by the end of the series\, every child leaves as a confident mahjong player. \nMahjong is a wonderful way for kids to build pattern recognition\, strategic thinking\, patience\, and social skills\, all while having fun with friends around the table. This program is designed specifically for a young audience: engaging\, hands-on\, and paced to keep 8-12 year olds excited from week to week. \nFour Mondays\, 4-5:30pm\nSept. 28-Oct. 26 (excludes Columbus Day 10/12) \nWeek 1 — Welcome to the Table\nMeet the tiles! Kids learn the parts of a mahjong hand\, how to read the Mini Mahj card\, and basic tile sorting and organization. We’ll play simple matching and sorting games to build tile fluency in a low-pressure\, high-fun way and start to play “messy mahj”. We will have fun mini prizes for the group each week. \n$240 per child for the 4 week session\, please register below (limited to 12 children)
