SUMMARY:Kim Michele Richardson\, Author of Bestselling Novel The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek\, to Speak Via Webinar from New Canaan Library
DESCRIPTION:New Canaan Library is pleased to present a talk by author Kim Michele Richardson\, who will speak about her latest bestselling historical novel\, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek. Ms. Richardson will speak via live videoconference on Thursday\, October 7 at 7 PM EST. Zoom sign in information will be provided upon registration at newcanaanlibrary.org. \nA page turner and highly compelling\, “this gem of historical fiction from Richardson” (Publishers Weekly) is a lyrical and accurate depiction of Depression-era Appalachia\, as well as a multi-layered history lesson. Richardson brings to life 19-year-old Cussy Mary Carter\, the indomitable heroine who navigates a community steeped in racial intolerance while carrying out the work she loves – delivering reading material to the rural people of Kentucky. In rich detail and impeccably researched\, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek covers themes ranging from American society in the 1930s and the New-Deal pack Horse Library Project to racial intolerance\, the mining community\, medical research\, and the Blue People of Kentucky – descendants of the Fugate family who carried a recessive gene that turned their skin blue. \nKim Michele Richardson is a multiple-award winning author who has written five works of historical fiction\, and a bestselling memoir. Kim Michele was born and raised in Kentucky and lives there with her family and beloved dogs. She is also the founder of Shy Rabbit\, a writers’ residency and scholarship implemented for low-income writers.
