SUMMARY:S.T.A.R “Through Your Looking Glass” Fairfield County Social Justice Student Art Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Stand Together Against Racism (S.T.A.R.)\, in partnership with The Glass House and the Carriage Barn Arts Center announces its 2nd annual student “Through Your Looking Glass” Art Showcase that seeks to recognize the role of art\, design and/or architecture in advancing social justice through the lens of inclusion\, equity and diversity.\nStudents in all grades from all towns in Fairfield County are invited to create and submit art that reflects the social justice topics that matter most to them today. Each piece of art will include a brief story about the meaning of the art\, told from the student’s lens. Interested students should visit the S.T.A.R website for more information and required registration forms.\nAll art will be featured at an opening reception at the New Canaan Carriage Barn in October 28 from 12pm-2pm and will remain on view until November 11. Event is free to attend and all are invited.

DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, November 25th\nTrail Treks at 10am and 11am\nGrab the entire family (and any lingering holiday visitors too!) and head on down to the New Canaan Nature Center! You won’t want to miss this awesome annual event\, a long-time favorite for both members & guests. Join the NCNC Naturalists for a healthy\, invigorating Trail Trek to work off that holiday meal.\nWhile “waddling” the trails\, we’ll search for some of nature’s most treasured gifts (apple trees\, maple trees & honey bees to name a few) and learn why the end of autumn may not be quite as quiet as you may think. In fact\, autumn is a busy time of year for many wild animals such as deer\, squirrels & birds!\nAs an extra Thanksgiving bonus\, after our hike\, you’ll also get to enjoy a FREE behind the scenes tour of our Animal Care facilities & Birds of Prey Exhibit – our way of saying “thank you” to the community.\nRegistration Information:\n*No Pre-registration required\, just drop on in.\n*Please meet at the Sugar Shack at 10am or 11am.\n*Please note\, this program is not a drop off program.
