October4design kicks off with French Bull Founder Jackie Shapiro
October 1, 2020 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm
$55October4design, the month-long celebration of New Canaan’s architecture, art, design and community, begins October 1 at 12:30 pm. Jackie Shapiro, a long time New Canaan resident and founder of the lifestyle brand French Bull, will discuss remotely her life, design philosophy and marketing strategy, the development of her LIVEVIVID logo, the history of her company, and the patterns and colors for which she is famous. Participants can also purchase a catered lunch in a French Bull lunch bag for $55 for pick up prior to the presentation. For reservations, please contact info@nchistory.org.
October4design is spearheaded by the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society with support from the Town of New Canaan. It is sponsored by Marvin Windows, Ring’s End and the Rotary Club of New Canaan. NCM&HS and its community partners will present an array of programs and events to highlight the architecture for which New Canaan is famous and the fabulous art and design happening within the community. Although the pandemic has resulted in some limitations and the postponement of the Modern House Day Tour + Symposium, the events include a Builders Challenge for children and a “Where’s Philip?” downtown scavenger hunt for Philip Johnson’s glasses.
“New Canaan is a wonderful, creative place with a host of talented people and truly amazing architecture,” said Laura Pla, Chair of October4design. “We wanted to build on the love of mid-century moderns and develop a way to bring visitors to Town and engage residents in the unique culture here.”
All lectures are free. For a complete list of events and activities, please visit www.october4design.org or call 203-966-1776.
