Find Architect Philip Johnson’s Glasses
October 9, 2020 @ 10:00 am - October 30, 2020 @ 4:00 pm
New Canaan Museum & Historical Society, October4design & the Glass House Team Up!
Local kids are invited to search for architect Philip Johnson’s iconic glasses to help celebrate October4design – the month-long celebration of New Canaan’s architecture, art, community and design – spearheaded by the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society. Philip Johnson’s iconic glasses will be kept hidden in 30 of New Canaan’s retails stores from October 9-30, 2020.
“In celebrating October4design, we are excited to collaborate with the Glass House to highlight this architectural treasure in our town and its architect Philip Johnson.” said Nancy Geary, Executive Director of the NCM&HS. “Children of all ages are encouraged to participate. Can you find Philip’s glasses? The search is on!”
Children can pick up their Find Philip Johnson’s Glasses passport at the Glass House Visitor Center + Design Store (199 Elm Street, New Canaan, CT) starting Friday, October 9. The passport lists participating retailers throughout New Canaan. Children will visit those retailers and collect signatures or stamps when they spot the glasses. Completed passports should be turned in at the Glass House Visitor Center + Design Store no later than Friday, October 30. Each completed passport will receive a small prize and be entered into a drawing to win one of three architectural gifts.
The first annual Find Philip Johnson’s Glasses challenge is made possible by the generous support of the Glass House and the New Canaan Museum & Historical Society.
Passports are available for pick-up at the Glass House Visitor Center + Design Store Saturdays and Sundays 10am-4pm starting October 9.
