Equine authors Nir and Seim to appear at Mounted Troop

If you’re an avid reader who also happens to enjoy horses, then the New Canaan Mounted Troop and the New Canaan Library have a special event for you.

On Sunday, April 23, authors Sarah Maslin Nir (The Flying Horse) and Carrie Seim (Horse Girl) will be at the New Canaan Mounted Troop complex to share their experiences as authors and riders with horse enthusiasts of all ages.

The event is scheduled from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and will include barn tours and a grooming demonstration hosted by instructors from the Mounted Troop. Register for the event by clicking here.

Nir, pictured with one of her four horses, is a reporter from The New York Times and author of the Once Upon a Horse series of children’s books, which feature stories about the equestrian world. The first book in the series, The Flying Horse, came out last month. Nir is an avid horseman and has also published an adult nonfiction book entitled Horse Crazy: The Story of a Woman in Love with an Animal.

In addition to Horse Girl, Seim, right, is the creator of The Flying Flamingo Sisters – a best-selling audio book series and has written for many other publications, including The New York Times, The Atlantic, Cosmopolitan, The New York Post, Architectural Digest, and more.
