Creatures of the Night Hike on Aug. 27 at New Canaan Nature Center

data blogAugust 9, 2022

What’s out there lurking in the darkness?

If you visit the New Canaan Nature Center on Saturday, August 27, you will be able to take a night hike and discover just how many nocturnal animals live at the compound while also learning how animals use their sensory adaptations to smell, hear, and see in the dark.

Adults and children can still register for the Nature Center’s Creatures of the Night Hike here. The hike is from 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and costs $15 for non-members and $10 for members. Every adult and child must have a ticket to participate.

Hikers will participate in challenges, test their night vision against an owl, see how well their own sensory functions work in the dark, and meet a couple of the center’s animal ambassadors. The night will end with one of the center’s favorite activities – a marshmallow roast around a crackling campfire.

The hike will be conducted rain or shine so come prepared if a thunderstorm is possible.
