The New Canaan Nature Center has two events during the coming week that will showcase the beauty of Fall in the Northeast.
On Tuesday (November 7) the Nature Center will host its Awesome Autumn Day for children ages 3 through 10, and then on Wednesday (November 8), the Nature Center will host a hike in Rockefeller State Park led by Tom Turrentine.
Awesome Autumn Day
Parents and children can enjoy the afternoon with games, crafts, apple slingshot, an animal meet-and-greet, and marshmallow roasting.
The free event begins at 1 p.m. and continues until 3 p.m. All children must be accompanied by an adult. No drop-offs will be allowed.
Play pumpkin ring toss, corn hole, parachute games, and more before making an autumn craft to take home. Some of the Nature Center’s animals will be on hand to observe and learn about, and a campfire will be blazing to keep everyone warm.
Rockefeller State Park Hike
Meet in the lower parking lot of the Nature Center at 9:15 a.m. before heading up to the park that is located in Pleasantville, NY.
Tom Turrentine will lead the 3- to 3.5-mile hike that should take between 90 minutes and two hours to complete. Be sure to bring plenty of water, a snack or lunch, and binoculars. It’s important to wear appropriate clothing and shoes or boots.
The hike is free but you must pre-register if you plan to make the trip.
