The New Canaan Mounted Troop will have a busy Halloween weekend.
On Friday, October 30th, the equestrian-based nonprofit will host a “Once in a Blue Moon” fundraiser from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. that will feature music by Band Central, cocktails and more at the New Canaan Mounted Troop facility, 22 Carter Street in New Canaan.
Tickets for the event are $100 each. All proceeds from the event will support the New Canaan Mounted Troop’s Horsemanship and Super Troopers Therapeutic Programs, and fund the continued care of the troop’s 27 horses and ponies.
The “Once in a Blue Moon” celebration coincides with the second full moon of October, and will be held outdoors on the grounds, weather permitting. If it does rain, the event will be moved into the indoor riding arena.
Band Central, which provided a $2,000 grant to cover the cost of the event, will perform country music and soft rock harvest moon vibes. Cocktails will be provided via Airstream by Baked and Sauced, and boxed appetizers will also be served.
Social distancing will be observed and masks or face coverings are required. For more information about the event, or to purchase tickets, go to https://e.givesmart.com/events/j1p/.
The Mounted Troop will host a pair of events on Saturday, October 31st.
At 11 a.m., Erinn Chang, a certified yoga and wellness specialist, and owner of BREATHE Pilates and Yoga, will conduct an hour-long Mindfulness, Movement & Meditation session on the farm grounds. The outdoor event will offer participants useful tips on how they can center the mind and the body.
Tickets to the yoga event at the farm are priced at $50. Guests need to bring a yoga mat, a towel and water. If you’d rather get a virtual workout, stay home and log in via Zoom for just $20. Buy in-person tickets or virtual tickets at https://e.givesmart.com/events/j1p/.
The final Mounted Troop event will be a drive-through trick-or-treat event Saturday evening from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Dress up, bring the family and collect treats that will be safely delivered through the windows of your car.
