Take a break from news about politics and the pandemic and enjoy the New Canaan Library’s first ArtScapades lecture of 2021 on Monday, January 11th beginning at 7 p.m.

The popular series featuring Robin Hoffman and Jodi Stiffelman will begin its 13th year at the library with a Zoom webinar featuring the work of Mexican muralists Jose Clemente Orozco, Diego Rivera, and David Alfaro Siqueiros and the impact their paintings had on leading African-American artists during the period.

Hoffman and Stiffelman will discuss how the murals painted by Orozco, Rivera, and Siqueiros inspired African-American artists Hale Woodruff, Elizabeth Catlett, and Charles White to use their talents to protest economic, social, and racial injustices in their paintings.

To enjoy the first ArtScapades lecture titled: “Crossing Cultures: From Mexican Muralists to African-American Modernists”, all you have to do is register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_xEBrVR2kSCmMm3PqPxnQ-A. The lecture is free.
