The Color Drop is the 2021 substitution for the New Canaan Color Run, the fund-raising event that had to be postponed because of COVID-19
On the morning of Wednesday, March 31st, a Bell407 helicopter will circle over the community’s Waveny Park before releasing 1,000 colored and numbered golf balls at a designated target. Each golf ball represents a $25 donation to the New Canaan High School Scholarship Foundation.
The Color Drop is the 2021 substitution for the New Canaan Color Run, the fund-raising event that had to be postponed because of COVID-19. No spectators will be allowed at Waveny Park, but residents can watch a live-stream of the Color Drop beginning at 9:45 a.m. on Channel 78.
(Rain is currently in the forecast for Wednesday. If rain postpones the Color Drop, it will be rescheduled for Thursday morning.)
The person who purchased the golf ball that ends up closest to the target will win a new Peloton Tread. Second- and third-place prizes will also be awarded. Winners will be announced immediately after the balls are dropped.
All proceeds from the Color Drop will benefit the New Canaan Scholarship Foundation, which has been providing need-based scholarships for graduates of New Canaan High School since its founding in 1967.
