A group of local business owners got together nearly 20 years ago and came up with an idea to get local residents to come to downtown New Canaan to shop at their stores.
The idea has become known as the Holiday Stroll and this Friday and Saturday (December 2 and December 3), the New Canaan Chamber of Commerce will host the 18th version of the annual event.
On Friday, residents can descend on downtown between 5:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. to walk under the town’s lamp posts, browse in stores, enjoy a Christmas show put on by local performers, and eat a gourmet meal prepared at any one of the area’s many restaurants.
Families with young children can return on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to meet with Santa, who will be stationed at 161 Elm Street. While the kids wait to tell Santa what they’d like to receive this holiday season, they will be entertained by magicians making balloon figures and also be entertained by members of New Canaan High School’s Red Cross and Feeding 500 clubs.
Head to downtown New Canaan on Friday and Saturday, shop at local businesses, and get the holiday season off to a great start.
